Robin Gershon-Halpern was graduated from high school at the young age of 16. Due to her drive and passion for education and to help others, she was awarded two Masters Degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University by her 21st birthday. The Masters of Arts is in Psychology and the Masters of Education is in Psychological Counseling with the concentration in School Counseling and Rehabilitation. Robin Gershon-Halpern is certified in the state of New Jersey as a School Counselor. She is also certified in the United States as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Additionally, she is licensed in the state of New Jersey as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Robin Gershon-Halpern is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).
Dedicated to her field, Robin worked for more than 25 years in various settings including schools, clinics and in facilities for the developmentally disabled. She began her career working with the developmentally disabled and then afforded her expertise to individuals and families with substance abuse problems for 10 years. While she did take some years off professionally when her children were young, she never stopped keeping herself current in her field, including doing volunteer counseling at a local day school.
When Robin Gershon-Halpern returned to work after a maternity leave, she worked for 8 years in Charter Schools in Newark, NJ. In her last position, she was the Coordinator of Special Services/Education and Counseling. Robin Gershon-Halpern has provided services for individuals, groups and families with diverse ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. She has assisted those clients with difficulties such as anxiety, coping with stress, low self esteem, relationships, developmental differences/special education, school issues, bullying, teen interpersonal skills, substance abuse, depression, separation, divorce, and loss.
In January of 2013, in order to meet the needs of the community and what became the natural progression of her career, Robin Gershon-Halpern announced the opening of her private practice which includes individual and group counseling and educational consultation. During the last several years she has also worked for Effective School Solutions (ESS) as a clinician in schools providing intensive therapy to a select group of students and their families. Additionally, Robin Gershon-Halpern has worked as an In-Home Clinician for youth and families in need.
